Working out with triplets

As some of you moms, or soon to be moms, of multiples are probably thinking, "working out, heck my work out is juggling two, or three babies."  Well, you are right.  Being a mom of triplet babies, and a four year old is definitely a huge workout, but it is not the workout to create a healthier lifestyle to be able to function well as a mom to bunch of kiddos.  Or at least for me it is not.  I also found myself looking at my tummy, and just thinking, "wow what happened."  lol.  So, I thought I would share a little research I've done for women that have had multiples, plus a little of my own additions. :)

First off, what made me realize that I had to find something totally different than the norm was my tummy.  Yes, I am back to my pre-pregnancy weight, but my tummy is not quite the same.  It does get better, and better each week, but it takes work. So, I hit up google for post pregnancy workouts, and found an awesome blog.  It is called Beautifulafterthebelly.blogspot.com and I was so intrigued by what I found I decided to give it a whirl.  What I found out about on the blog was that we have this muscle in our stomach, well I already knew we had muscles, but the main muscle during pregnancy separates creating, diastasis recti.  Crazy name I know, but once I researched it all, and examined myself, as they show you how to on the website, I was in shock that mine was separated.  I could actually feel it.  Once I realized I needed to get the muscle back together I decided to try the Tuplar Trchniques as this blog recommends.  I've been doing them for five days now, and I will tell you they are not easy.  They may look simple, but man once you start doing them, woo wee you can feel the burn.  Lol.  I would like to write all about this new found blog, exercises, and research, but lord knows I don't have the time.  One thing I will say is that it is recommended that this workout be done three times per day, but hey, we all know that if you have multiples you barely have time for a workout even once a day.  AND, if you do you are blessed for that.  So I do it when I can.  I never even knew, or ever heard of, any of this before I read about it on this blog.  Go take a gander, you will be shocked, and the light bulb will go on for why you can't lose the pooch, but you can frans. ;)

On an addition to this you all know I have to have knee surgery.  Boooo!  I will be doing this beginning of November hopefully.  In preparation for this, I got back on the good ole Kona, road bike, and have been riding it.  Lately just riding about 6 miles.  Pretty proud of myself for that, because I figured I would barely be able to do 4, but am doing it and feel good.  I don't want my body to be in shock after surgery when Dr. Hines tells me I need to start rehabbing, which he said he is going to have me riding my bike for that.

You know, I broke my back in several places In 1999, and I remember when the doctor gave me the news that my back was broke, and what my future might hold.  I was devastated.  But, after I decided the treatment plan that he recommended, I knew I could make myself better than before, if I just did what he told me, and I did, plus some.  I did not want to have a rough future, I still had not had children yet, and knew that was an important part of my life ahead of me.  Having back troubles would make that impossible if I did not try to make myself better.  The same goes for my knee.  I don't want have to have a knee replacement later on, so I'm doing what I know to do to try and keep that from happening.  Anywho, I am actually loving riding my bike, even though all the back roads around my house are steep hills and such.  I enjoy the road, the country, the speed (definitely faster than running lol), and just the wind in my face.

The days I don't get to ride I usually get on the elliptical, and I've started doing lunges too. :/ Crazy I know.

A little secret about me I will share.  I never use to even like to work out, but with age I've changed.  :) I don't absolutely love it, but I do want to try and stay in shape.

On my rides I always see something beautiful, or something that just catches me.  So here is a shot from yesterday.  :)

I leave to a beautiful sunrise, and ride by some awesome pastures.  Of hay, yes, but I love it.  :)
