After more than a week of this extreme itching of my hands and feet, the itching has started to spread. I did mention this to Dr. S on Monday, who is a partner of my OB. My OB is out of town, so is my high risk, :/ but it has got to the point where we know this is not normal. At my NST yesterday my triage nurse asked several questions, and indicated that if it is worse, which she thought that is was, than I should get a Fractionated Bile Acid Test. Well after discussing this with her, and realizing the only symptom that I do not have is pains in the upper right quarter section of my abdomen, I know that I need to go in today and get tested. I also learned that I am in the top category of women who get this during pregnancy. Women of Swedish and Chilean decent, and women carrying multiples. Geeze I am both Swedish and carrying multiples. Anyway, I was up most of night because of this severe itching. I started researching some more and this is something I should not take lightly, so I am going to insist on being tested today if they do not recommend it when I call in. A simple blood test is no biggie to me since I have been poked all the time for the past several months. Even if it is increased hormones, which is what Dr. S thought, that is how cholastasis starts, and from everything that I learned it increasingly and rapidly gets worse.
One thing my OB Dr. H is always reminding me of is that I should always listen to my instincts. Especially since this is a high risk pregnancy. Thank goodness she will be back in town this evening.
Please say some prayers for me and the babies. Please and thank you.
For the pregnant women reading this, who might have the same concerns, here are two creditable websites that I found information on.
